Orthodontics is a special branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, protection and treatment of irregularities in the teeth and face. Irregular or "bad" bite called malocclusion can be corrected with orthodontic treatment.

Why Are Teeth Crowded And How Are They Treated?

When the size of the teeth is not compatible with the size of the jaw, the teeth are arranged crooked or spaced to settle in the jaw. In such dental and skeletal disorders, orthodontic treatment is applied to bring the teeth back to their proper alignment.

Is there an age for orthodontic treatment?

There is no age for the treatment of perplexity seen only in the teeth. It is treated at any age. However, the treatment of skeletal disorders, which we call the front or back of the jaws, should be done before the age of 12. This treatment becomes much more difficult at older ages. Nevertheless, we recommend our patients to have an orthodontic examination before the age of 7.

Wisdom teeth are usually in an impacted state due to their position in the jawbone and being covered with gum or bone.
In cases where a part of the tooth is covered with gingiva, infection often results in facial swelling and a decrease in jaw opening. As a result of repeated infections, the bone around the 20-year-old teeth begins to melt and inflammatory tissue forms instead.
In addition, due to its position in the jawbone, it can sometimes press on the molars in front of it, in this case pain and crowding of the front teeth occur.

Extraction of wisdom teeth is usually performed surgically and swelling and pain may occur in this area after extraction. This occurs in the presence of bone tissue around the wisdom tooth. When hard tissue laser (ER-YAG) is used instead of traditional methods to remove the bone around the tooth, swelling and pain are reduced by 80 percent and tissue healing is accelerated. In addition, with the low-level laser application (LLLT) after the extraction, the recovery period after the 20-year-old extraction and the jaw locking due to muscle spasm after the extraction are shorter.
